Thanks to our generous supporters, we are happy to announce that we have awarded a scholarship for a class of 2020 Georgia high school senior to attend a four-year Mississippi institution in the fall of 2020.
The award is paid as $500 in the fall and $500 in the spring.
Congratulations to Jordyn Burns from Tyrone, GA.
Jordyn has already begun her journey at Alcorn State where she is a 3rd generation Alcornite.
We wish her well as she begins her college career in Mississippi!
Members of our board have committed to donating enough funds to continue to award future scholarships, we anticipate being able to award the next scholarship cycle in 2021.
The information from 2020 is left below as it will also apply to the 2021 cycle when the process begins in March/April.

Be on track to graduate from a Georgia high school in 2020.
Be accepted by a four-year Mississippi college/university to attend full-time.
Provide a copy of your high school transcript.
Compose a 2-page (max), double-spaced, 12-point font essay that states why you should be a recipient of the scholarship.
Provide a list of your extracurricular activities (grades 9-12 only) including employment.
Be available via phone for an interview with the society's scholarship selection committee, if necessary.
Not send unrequested information.
The scholarship committee will rank the applicants in the following areas:
Evidence of serious scholastic aptitude, good character, leadership qualities, and well-rounded personal development
Grade Point Average
Awards and other recognitions
March 31, 2020 — Deadline for receipt of applications
May 15, 2020 — Notification to scholarship recipient
